Avengers: Endgame has been a recent blockbuster hit and it has a lot of life lessons that we can learn from. Why do i say that? Let’s start our discussion…
Life Lesson №1
In one of the scene, Steve was talking to Romanoff that they need to learn to move on. Sometimes, it is hard to move on.
It is the same in life. No matter how positive you are, eg. as positive as Captain America, you cannot deny the feeling deep inside your heart that you felt the loss. Sudden events that changed the trajectory of your life will create a deep void. Unable to interpret or understand what happened as in the case of Thanos snapping his fingers and killed 50% of all life forms, you become lost.
We need to move on.
Life Lesson №2
Time they say is an illusion. As we watched the time travel in the movie, our current reality is determined by our past. The movie goes back in time to retrieve the infinity stones to change the future’s reality but it does not change what has happened in the past naturally eg. natural deaths, accidental deaths, suicides etc.
What they mean by Tony is that time is the single most precious resource everyone has equally. Time is something so priceless that you cannot buy it. Yet, all of us have been gifted with Time equally. Everyone has 24 hours a day and a limited life time to go through.
I believe if someone wants to spend time with you, it meant that someone really love you because time cannot be bought and reversed. What has happened is irreversible. Put it simply, what you have forgone is lost forever. Therefore family time is the most precious thing anybody could have. Once that is gone, no matter how hard you cry, you will not have it ever again.
What about money? you cannot extend the lives of your loved ones with money. We should care more about the time we spent with our family. Spending time with someone is a sign of love. I truly believe that.
Life Lesson №3
And I needed you, as in past tense.
When something bad happens and your friends ditched you during that time, would you still trust the person? In Avengers, Tony Stark blamed Steve Rogers for that same reason.
He needed his friend’s support.
In life, anything can happen and there are multiples reasons why some decisions made may not favor you. If he/she is a true friend, they will always come back. They will always have your back.
Life Lesson №4
Tony Stark: You trust me?
Steve Rogers: I do
In the Avengers series, these two characters have been friends and enemies along the way. Tony Stark hated Steve Rogers for not telling him that Bucky is the guy who killed his parents. Although there are many episodes of fights and disagreements between the two, deep down inside, they are friends.
When you are a true friend of another, you always come back.
There are many decisions in life that you have to make to move forward. Sometimes it means going against your friend. However, it does not mean that you don’t trust your friend anymore.
Trust is the basic currency of a relationship. If you do not have trust, the relationship is bound to fail at some point of time.
In Endgame, Tony and Steve are about to travel back to another timeline with their last pym particle meaning if Tony got it wrong, they will be stuck in that timeline forever. In those critical life and death situation, Steve still trusted Tony. Would you have done the same with a person whom you have fought as enemies in years before?
Trust is a noble act. When we learn to trust, we trust 100%. There is no in-between trust. There is no such thing. It is either absolute or none. Sometimes in life, we need to learn to trust. You are a better human being when you trust another.
Life Lesson №5
Part of the journey is the End
Every life will die, every journey will also end.
Oxygen with run out tomorrow morning. That’ll be it. When I drift off I will dream about you. It’s always you. — Tony Stark
Just like a relationship, when there is a beginning, there is also an end. I will dream about you, like i always have because it is always you. You may not know it now, but with time, you will realise that there is nothing more powerful and valuable in Earth than Love.
In Endgame, Tony Stark sacrificed himself to save his friends and families. He loved them more than he loved himself. He had wanted them to live. He knew if he did not snap his fingers with the infinity stones, Thanos would have got it and killed all lives on Earth.
Do you love others more than yourself?
If you do not, you are not as great a man as Tony. When you love others more than yourself, part of the journey is the end. You let your loved one go.
Life Lesson №6
Whatever it takes
Between goal and love, what would you choose?
This life lesson proves that if there is a will, there is a way. To achieve your goal, you can do anything and everything including breaking your loved ones. Sometimes it is for the better.
In the movie, Black Widow (Romanoff) died in exchange for the Soul Stone. She did whatever it takes but at the same time breaking Hawkeye’s heart. Hawkeye and Hulk have to live knowing that she did whatever it take to protect them, to save them because she have loved them dearly.
It still comes down to Love.
Life Lesson №7
I love you 3000
It came from a simple thought from his daughter, and Tony didn’t need to go on the Time Heist because he had everything he needed.
But the fact that he went out there knowing he would most likely lose the family life he’d achieved meant that, in the end, Iron Man loved all of us out there. When his final message told his daughter he “loved her 3000”, he was telling her it was because of the love she gave him that brought the courage for Tony to save the universe.
When we love someone, we need to let her go. It is because of Love.
Love also make us brave to do the impossible. There is a saying that people become stronger when they needed to protect their loved ones. This is especially true in life. You really does become the strongest when you have to protect another. You cannot live through life without that element.
By yourself, you will never be strong. Tony’s daughter simple message of Love you 3000 gave Tony the courage to give up his life in exchange for hers.
When a person is willing to give up their life for you, he/she is the one who truly loves you. There is nothing more valuable. As with time, life is something no money can ever buy.
Life is actually quite simple.
You need Love. Until you lose that, you will never know what it is. These life lessons are actually quite relatable in our daily lives.
Until next time, love you 3000 — MC
